Caspian Arts Foundation presents workshops in contemporary art practices & film


Caspian Arts Foundation is proud to present, ‘Beyond the Studio: New Approaches for Emerging Artists’, a series of talks and workshops at the Salahaddin University-Erbil. Contemporary art practices in fine art and photography / video art will be set up to 2nd & 3rd year BA art students at the Salahaddin University to learn how to develop ideas and work with equipments, exchange constructive critique and ideas within their assigned groups as well as building their portfolios and how to present their work.

Sponsored by Kar Group and hosted by Salahaddin University-Erbil, this three day event will allow students to interact and exchange with their workshop leaders and enquire about the nature of their chosen practice and the possibilities surrounding that.


  • Fine art workshop led by Walid Siti (Iraqi-Kurdish artist) – maximum 12 students;
  • Photography / Video Art workshop led by Wafaa Bilal (multi media artist & Associate Professor New York University, Tisch School of Art) and Mark Anderson (multi-media artist & educator at School of the Art Institute of Chicago) – maximum 12 students. Note: laptops are required for this workshop;

Application requirements:
All applicants must send their:

  • CV
  • Portfolio
  • The workshop they are applying to;
  • A Brief statement no longer than 300 words, stating why their chosen workshop is important for them and how it can contribute to advancing their practice.

Free accommodation will be provided to visiting students at the Salahaddin University-Erbil.
