Yorkshire Sculpture Park
From 7th to 29th of January 2017
Artists based in the Middle East who would find it difficult to travel to the UK are invited to propose artwork that can be sent by email.
The exhibition Beyond Boundaries: Art by Email will be curated by Yorkshire Sculpture Park (UK Museum of the Year 2014) and ArtRole in partnership with Caspian Arts Foundation.
The exhibition will run alongside the wider event De[con]struction Reconstruction: Living in a State of Creative Uncertainty, a collaborative effort between UK-based organisations Caspian Arts Foundation, Asia House, Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Kurdistan-based organisation, ArtRole.
We recognise that it is complicated and prohibitive for worldwide artists to work in the UK, but are keen to offer a platform and share great art with YSP’s 500,000 annual visitors.
Beyond Boundaries: Art by Email celebrates the fact that ideas and art can travel even if people cannot. We welcome proposals of photography and film, but also sculpture files that can be 3D printed, performance by instruction and other creative responses.
The exhibition will feature work that not only shares the realities of current
situations in various countries such as Iraq, Syria, Iran, Palestine but
also the resilience, hope, and creativity of artists throughout the region, whatever their circumstances.
The deadline for consideration is Friday 28th October at noon GMT.
Please send the proposal in English to firstname.lastname@example.org and helen.pheby@Ysp.co.uk:

Note to applicants:
This open call is eligible to artists from the broad region of the Middle East. No discrimination will be exercised in the selection process, whether due to gender, ethnicity, religious background or nationality.
